I’ve recently started writing for DailyArt, an app that features one work of art every day. My first piece, about the painting shown above, was featured on December 27th. In order to read it, download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
I also had the opportunity to visit a local “castle”. There will be more about this later, so just enjoy this photo for the moment.
Lastly, I am now on Instagram! Follow me (ascholarlyskater) to see what I got for Christmas and stay updated on my ongoing adventures. Recommendations for accounts to follow are most welcome, too! Here’s to an awesome, scholarly, and nerdy 2017.
Happy new year! As a medievalist with New Jersey roots, I’m more than a little curious to learn which castle you visited…
Kip’s Castle in Montclair/Verona. It’s a pretty cool place, even though you can currently only view the first floor.
Cool! That one is totally new to me. I just looked at photos: it’s really distinctive, and not at all like most of the medieval-inspired private that other industrialists were building at the time. I’m glad it survived; growing up in central Jersey made me pessimistic about historic preservation in the Garden State.
Yeah, it’s pretty sweet. I’m working on a longer post about it now.
This is very late, but Happy New Year! I hope you’re having a wonderful 2017.
The DailyArt app looks great – I’ll check it out.
