A hurry of hoofs in a village street, from Paul Revere’s Ride: The Landlord’s Tale, 2002, by Charles Santore (Collection of the artist).
DailyArt Magazine asked me to write something about American illustrator Charles Santore, who has his own retrospective exhibition at the Woodmere Art Museum. Unfortunately, I didn’t actually get to visit the exhibit, but I did learn about a cool artist. Read my piece here. The picture above is from Santore’s illustrated children’s book about Paul Revere. I find it so striking!
Alexandra Kiely, aka A Scholarly Skater, is an art historian based in the northeastern United States. She loves wandering down the dark and dusty corners of art history and wholeheartedly believes in visual art's ability to enrich every person's life.
Her favorite periods of art history are 19th-century American painting and medieval European art and architecture. When she not looking at, reading about, writing about, or teaching art, she's probably ice dancing or reading.
